Microsoft 365 Copilot Gets New AI Functions: AI-Powered Search Function, Image Generation and Notebooks

Microsoft will soon release the updated version of Microsoft 365 Copilot with AI functions. The app is used by business customers but visually comes closer to the consumer version.

New features

According to Microsoft, the app has been completely redesigned from scratch. The tech giant wants Microsoft 365 Copilot to understand the user thanks to the memory function, and provide the tools that matter. These tools include an AI-driven search function that works with apps like ServiceNow, Google Drive, Slack, Confluence and Jira.

The Pages function is fully integrated into the renewed app. This allows for easy collaboration with colleagues on AI-generated content, which can be edited and shared. Another addition is Notebooks, in which various items from a specific project can be bundled. Think of pages, links and files that an AI agent can then work with.

Microsoft is also introducing image generation via OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4o in the Copilot Create section. This is the renewed version of Microsoft Designer and allows you to generate images, videos, surveys and other content.

Shopping for AI Agents

Microsoft is also focusing on broader AI integration in companies. Through a new agent store, users can add custom AI agents, from Microsoft or external parties. According to Microsoft, this creates a “Frontier Firm”: an organization where AI agents are a standard part of the team and employees essentially assemble, manage and mold that AI into productive work partners.

That sounds like scary future music somewhere, but maybe we should just brace ourselves for this new reality now.
