Claude Code secure on your smartphone thanks to Remote Control

claude

Anthropic introduces Remote Control for Claude Code, allowing users to control their coding agent from their smartphone or tablet. This new feature is currently available to Claude Max subscribers and will later be rolled out to Claude Pro users. The goal is to help developers stay in their ‘flow state,’ even when they are away from their desks.

Claude Code has gained enormous popularity over the past year, among both developers and non-technical users. The tool enables users to create complete applications and websites in days, which could take months without AI agents. Until now, Claude Code was limited to desktop applications and terminal environments, but with the introduction of Remote Control, users can now also issue commands from their mobile devices.

The new feature works as a synchronization layer that links local CLI environments to the Claude mobile app and web interface. This allows developers to start complex tasks in their terminal and then control them from their smartphone or tablet. This enables them to maintain their flow state, even when they are not physically at their workstation.

Generate QR code

To use Remote Control, users must first update their terminal to version 2.1.52 and run the command `claude remote-control`. This generates a QR code that, when scanned, opens a responsive, synchronized session in the Claude mobile app. This allows users to start tasks at their desk and then continue them from their couch or tablet, without losing their local file structure and project configuration.

The architecture of Remote Control ensures a secure connection between the local terminal and Anthropic’s cloud interface. This keeps files and MCP servers on the local machine, while only chat messages and tool results pass through an encrypted bridge. This ensures a secure and responsive experience, even when the user is far from their workstation.
