Cloudflare makes SASE platform quantum-safe

cloudflare

Cloudflare is expanding its SASE platform with post-quantum encryption. Companies can now protect their network traffic against future quantum computers, thanks to the full integration of the latest cryptographic standards into Cloudflare One.

Cloudflare integrates post-quantum encryption into its SASE platform. With this, the company aims to make its solution future-proof.

When quantum computers become a reality, they will be able to easily crack classic encryption algorithms. Malicious actors can already collect data now in the hope of decrypting it later. By investing in post-quantum security today, organizations prevent future problems. This is especially important in sectors where data remains sensitive for the long term. The National Institute of Standards and Technology in the US warns that all cryptographic algorithms must be updated before 2030.

Full post-quantum

As of today, Cloudflare One is equipped with post-quantum encryption for all network connections, including zero-trust access and WAN-as-a-Service. The experience with post-quantum TLS protocols is now also being applied to IPsec, with Cloudflare focusing on speed and stability without extra hardware or complicated configurations.

Cloudflare’s IPsec implementation offers high availability by automatically routing traffic to the best data center. Additionally, the platform protects against “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks, ensuring data is secure today against future threats.

Standardization

Cloudflare opts for broad compatibility by ensuring its IPsec solution complies with wider internet standards. The solution supports collaboration between different vendors and makes large-scale security achievable. This allows organizations to future-proof their networks with minimal effort.
