Cisco unveils Wi-Fi 7 access points with focus on smart networks

Cisco introduces its new Wi-Fi 7 access points with built-in AI functionality.

Cisco presented new access points at the Cisco Live APJC event in Melbourne. Those new APs (access points) are not only Wi-Fi 7 compatible, but also include AI functionalities such as optimizing their performance and automatic configuration.

Future-proof access points

With the new APs, customers can manage their networks through both the cloud and on-premises, and no longer have to choose between the two. That’s possible because of Cisco’s subscription formula that gives companies one license for the entire Wi-Fi 7 portfolio, SiliconANGLE knows.

According to Cisco, the access points automatically detect their location and Cisco Spaces allows you to turn workplaces into smart spaces. Cisco Spaces includes optimizing workstations, improving customer experiences and facilitating smart building management. Automatically detecting the location is convenient because it creates the necessary SKUs and licenses needed in that region. The appropriate configuration is then automatically downloaded.

The new APs are driven by Cisco ThousandEyes digital assurance solutions. This technology helps detect and resolve performance issues both within the wireless network and in external infrastructure. IT teams can thus proactively monitor and improve network performance and connection experiences.

Cisco’s Wifi 7 access points are available for order starting November 2024 and will be delivered in December 2024. The solution is designed for businesses looking to modernize their networks with the latest Wi-Fi standard.
