Motivair launches the MCDU-70. This is a CDU for liquid cooling up to 2.5 MW per unit, allowing data center operators to scale up to 10 MW and more in tandem with other devices.
Motivair, part of Schneider Electric, is expanding its range of liquid cooling solutions with the introduction of the MCDU-70. This is a Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) with a maximum cooling capacity of 2.5 megawatts. The new unit is intended for data centers that are faced with increasing heat densities due to the use of powerful GPUs for AI applications.

Up to 10 MW with ExoStructure
The MCDU-70 is the most powerful in the Motivair range. The device delivers 2.5 MW of cooling capacity in a compact form factor and is suitable for multiple operation, for example in a 4+2 redundancy setup. In total, the CDU can deliver up to 10 MW as part of a solution when multiple units are combined. This is possible via the ExoStructure software from Schneider Electric, which allows the combined CDUs to be controlled as one central system.

The CDU contains dual heat exchangers and parallel filtration. According to Motivair, this design ensures minimal pressure drop and maintains a standard flow of 1.5 liters per minute per kilowatt.
The MCDU-70 is part of a wider range of CDUs within the Motivair portfolio, with capacities starting from 105 kW. At the end of last year, Schneider Electric launched the Motivair MCDU-45 and MCDU-55. All units are designed to function modularly and can therefore be adapted to specific requirements of AI implementations. They are aligned with the roadmap of GPU suppliers such as Nvidia. The MCDU-70 is available worldwide with immediate effect.
