Gemini is increasingly integrated into Google Drive. Soon, it will be able to summarize your PDFs and Google Forms.

In an announcement, Google states that it will soon expand Gemini’s functionality in Drive with smart PDF summaries, a list of key points, and suggested actions.

PDFs and Forms

When you open a PDF in Drive, you will now automatically see a concise summary of the document, along with suggested actions such as “Draft a proposal” or “Generate interview questions”. Clicking on such an action will immediately open Gemini in the sidebar to assist you further.

You no longer need to sift through a lengthy PDF to understand its core message. The summary helps you decide faster what to do with it and makes it easier to engage Gemini for follow-up actions. Additionally, Gemini can summarize form responses in Google Forms if three people have responded. For now, this feature is only available in English.

Google aims to further integrate Gemini into Google Drive. The AI assistant can already watch videos for you, summarize them, and extract specific information. With the ‘catch me up’ feature, users immediately know what has changed in their files since the last time they opened them.

Availability

The rollout starts from June 12, 2025, spread over a maximum of 15 days. The feature works in more than 20 languages and is available for end-users with an eligible Workspace subscription, including Business Standard/Plus, Enterprise Standard/Plus, and users with a Gemini add-on (such as Gemini Education Premium or Google AI Pro). Admins must enable smart features and personalization via the Admin Console.
