Oracle and Google expand cloud services in eight new regions

Oracle and Google Cloud have expanded their partnership to include new services and regional coverage.

The expansion of the Oracle-Google Cloud partnership includes a focus on Frankfurt, where data center capacity will be doubled over the next 12 months. This is part of a global expansion to eight regions, including Mumbai, Tokyo and Montreal. That’s according to a blog from Oracle.

New features

An important new feature is support for cross-region disaster recovery. This means businesses can back up their databases to another Google Cloud region. This keeps their data protected and available even if there is an outage in one region. This is especially interesting for highly regulated industries, such as financial services, where data availability and security are especially important.

The Oracle Database@Google Cloud service allows companies to use Oracle’s Exadata platform directly on Google Cloud. This provides easy workload deployment, enhanced security and integration with Google services such as BigQuery and Vertex AI. The service is already available in major data center hubs such as Frankfurt, London and Ashburn (U.S.).

In addition, Oracle is introducing a lower-cost alternative to the Exadata platform aimed at companies that need less heavy computing power or for test environments. This makes it possible for more companies to use Exadata services and save costs.
